Timeline: OAEA Award Nominations & Submissions

At the Annual OAEA Conference in November the following awards are nominated and voted upon at the Regional Luncheon Meeting:

Outstanding Art Teachers
Service Award: Distinguished Citizen for Art Education
Service Award: Distinguished Educator for Art Education
Service Award: Distinguished Business/Organization for Art Education  

You can submit your nomination letter before the Conference to your Regional Director (especially if you can’t attend the conference). 

*If your nominee is selected at the OAEA Conference, you will then be responsible for submitting your nomination information online: https://www.ohioarted.com/awards.html by November 20th.

Ohio Art Educator of the Year
Division Awards 
Advocate Awards
Doris Schnepf Outstanding Service Award

December 15

  • Awards Materials Checklists and directions given to nominees via email


February 14

  • Awards Materials Online Packet Submission is due for all Awards


March/April

  • Award Winners Materials Reviewed by Awards Co-Chairs

  • Regional Service Award winners compete at for State Level Vote

  • Division Awards and Honor/Merit Awards scored upon by rubric

  • Ohio Art Educator of the Year nominations scored by rubric

  • Official Award Winners Announced


May/June/July

  • Awards Co-Chairs share emails/congratulatory letters

  • Regional Directors celebrate region winners


August/September/October

  • NAEA Award Opportunities If you are a state Division winner or selected as our Ohio Art Educator of the Year and if you are a member of NAEA, you can submit your packet to compete at the National level. Due date is mid-October.Please visit the NAEA website awards page at: https://www.arteducators.org/opportunities/naea-awards

  • Awards Chairs Prepare for Awards Ceremony at Conference

  • Regional PR’s contact local newspapers/media outlets to share winner info
