Standard Professional Development Units (PDU’s) While most educators need PDU’s (formerly known as CEU’s) to renew or upgrade their license, not all educators need college credit. To assist educators with advanced degrees, OAEA has developed a Standard Professional Development Unit request form to make it easier for conference attendees, workshop presenters, and OAEA state and local leaders to receive credit for hour spent in professional development. Once verified, OAEA professional development units can be submitted to local professional development committees for application toward licensure renewal.
If you do not need professional development units to apply toward you PK-12 licensure, consider adding the Standard PDU form to your professional portfolio to document the professional work you have done to assist you in finding employment, or to receive promotion or tenure.
Follow this simple process to receive verification of your OAEA leadership and/or knowledge sharing.
Access the Standard PDU Form (one will be provided in your Conference booklet, as well)
Complete your name, OAEA membership number and OAEA region
Select one box indicating the PDU credit for which you are requesting verification
List the activity by name
Sign and Date the form
Send the completed form to the professional development chair with a self-addressed stamped envelope (address below) or simply stop by the Professional Development table at Conference for instant verification.
OAEA is committed to your professional development needs. This is one of the major perks of your membership! Take advantage of it! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.
