Art Lock-In! June 22-24, 2026 at Kent State University
Get ready to “lock in” and focus on your creativity at this year’s Summer Symposium! Building on the retro remix theme from Conference 2025 and looking ahead to preparations for Conference 2026, we’re hosting an “Art Lock-In”—a dedicated space for arts educators to lock in on their own artmaking while also locking in with one another to foster community and a shared creative voice.
Summer Symposium 2025 June 16 - 18 Mount St. Joseph University, Cincinnati
The Summer Symposium is a professional development opportunity for members designed to nourish your creative spirit. It is a two-day art experience held in the summer and is sponsored by the OAEA Distinguished Fellows. This hands-on program has is held on college campuses around the state and offers a variety of workshops each year. A few examples of past art media presented include alcohol inks, metal smithing, fabric dyes, bookmaking, printmaking, figure drawing, felting, watercolor painting, and more. Some years there are master classes offered for more in-depth study.
Remember this is different from the OAEA annual conference in the fall because it not focused on what you may take back to your students and school. This PD focuses on the artist within although some materials and experiences may be adjusted and used in your typical educational setting.
