The Summer Symposium is professional development that is designed to nourish your artistic soul. It is a two day conference held in the summer usually at the end of June and is sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association Fellows. This hands on conference has traditionally been held on college campuses around the state and offers different workshops each year. A few examples of past workshops include alcohol inks, metal smithing, fabric dyes, book making, printmaking, figure drawing, felting, watercolor painting, and more. Some years there are master classes offered for more in depth study of a subject. Participants can choose between attending one or two days with three workshops offered each day.
Remember this is different from the OAEA annual conference in the fall because it not focused on what you may take back to your students and school. This PD focuses on the artist within although some materials and experiences may be adjusted and used in your typical educational setting. Questions? Contact symposium@ohioarted.com
