Reception: Friday, June 28, 2024 Columbus College of Art & Design
Deadline: April 15
The OAEA High School Show is dedicated to showcasing Ohio's Emerging Artist artistic efforts, perhaps from students who have taken only one art class that may need an extra boost in their confidence. We hope to recognize budding talent and provide a professional forum for young people to experience competition, something they will encounter in their college applications, portfolio reviews and future art careers in college.
Students who are just beginning to explore the arts in high school are welcome to exhibit their work. The Emerging Artistshow will continue to be dedicated to showcasing artistic efforts of students who have only had the chance to take one or two art classes. We are pleased to offer a competitive professional forum as talented students prepare for their creative future in college and in an art career.
Emerging Artist High School Show Requirements:
Each OAEA Secondary Member can submit 5 artworks.
All submissions must be entered digitally via online form.
If accepted into the Emerging Artist show, please identify artwork Teacher Name, Region, School, Student Name, Title of Work and Medium.
The exhibition is open to any Ohio High School student whose art teacher is a member of the OAEA. Each member may submit a digital image of up to five works of art. Once the work is selected, the art teacher will be notified by email. At that time, selected art work will need to be matted and submitted to their OAEA Regional Director in late summer so that it may be delivered at the September OAEA board meeting.
The Emerging Artist show will be on display through mid-September and early October in the 2nd floor lobby of the State Teachers Retirement Building in Columbus. At the reception, various awards and prizes will be given to selected students with art in the exhibition. Students may celebrate their work with their families and claim their pieces at the closing reception. See OAEA Calendar for reception date.
