As a professional service organization and membership association dedicated to supporting art education professionals around the state of Ohio, we are committed to upholding values that support equity, diversity, and inclusion. OAEA would like to take a moment to unequivocally state that we are an organization that stands in solidarity, support, and care with our LGBTQ+ members, students, and community. In a time where increased marginalization, erasure, and oppression of LGBTQ+ voices are being experienced; we stand firmly in our work to recognize the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community in art education and justice work. Collectively we are building brave spaces that welcome art education professionals to be in community with each other and stand up for each other.
OAEA platforms, conference, and other professional spaces are no place for hate. We continue to uphold our non-discrimination clause which states: "OAEA does not and shall not discriminate, nor tolerate harassment, on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to selection of volunteers, vendors, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members."
We want to thank all our members for the work they do each and every day to uphold values of inclusivity, diversity, and equity in our communities. As art education professionals we commit to respectful and responsible professional learning that supports a vibrant organization that consists of many voices and lived experiences. With care and solidarity, OAEA Leadership
