January 2020 - Taking a Moment

Greetings my fellow OAEA members!
I hope the new year has started off well for each and every one of you. As we settle back into the "groove", I thought I would welcome you all to our new website with my first President Blog!

As I sit in my classroom gazing out at the falling snow I find peace in the morning tranquility. Its parent conference day and the building is much quieter than it is on any other Friday. There are piles of artwork to be graded, lessons to write, basketballs to paint for the AD office, chemicals to mix for photo developing... the list could go on. But I sit here enjoying a hot cup of coffee and skimming through emails trying to catch up on the many things I have on my plate, and yet I feel at peace.
Do you take a moment out of each day to take a breath and take in your surroundings? To reflect on the positives? So often we get caught up in the madness of our busy lives that we don't stop long enough to appreciate the things we have that are good. This Friday I'm taking a minute to review my past week and look forward to the week ahead. I would recommend you do the same. Enjoy your weekend and may February be amazing! (Maybe a few snow days mixed in for more reflection time?)
